THE CONSUMMATE COMPENDIUM OF THE INVENTIONS OF DR. REED RICHARDS

The inventions in this entry are utilized in Fantastic Four #39 (June 1965).



OPERATION ARTIFICIAL POWERS DEVICES. This is a series of four devices designed to replicate the superhuman abilities of the vigilante group The Fantastic Four. This consists of the following:
--An Electro-Vibra suit, which is exoskeleton constructed of thin blue metal bands and uses extreme vibrations to make the person wearing it appear transparent.
--A green, full-body suit with multiple flame jets built in which can coat the entire suit in a thin, intensely hot covering of flames. The suit is heat-resistant to protect the wearer. Additionally, the flame jets assist in the process of flying.
--An exoskeleton similar to the Electro-Vibra suit which includes metals arms which can retract great lengths.
--A full-size robot designed to resemble the mutated human known as The Thing. The robot is controlled by an elaborate remote control (pictured below) equipped with an Audio-Jector--which allows the user control to make it seem as if their voice is emanating from the robot--and a Vector Lever.



SUPERSONIC AIR-DISPLACER VORTEX MACHINE. This device is intended to aid in weather control. It has the capability of creating a vortex ray which can can generate the force of a dozen hurricanes. While intended solely for benign use, the instrument does have the capability of being utilized as a weapon so it should be kept in secure areas. It is also very loud while operating. It should not be used around gas cylinders as they have the capability of shattering the vortex if they are drawn into it.

FORCE BEAM PROJECTILES. These machines, constructed to look somewhat like larger model airplanes, are advanced weaponry and should be used with caution. It is especially dangerous as it locks onto the heartbeat of a human target to keep it on course. This precision adds to their lethal nature and they should be deployed with great caution.

The inventions in this entry are utilized in Fantastic Four #33 (December 1964).



SUBIONIC ANALYSIS STRUCTURE-SCOPE. This device is an invaluable part of any laboratory engaged in biological study. The design is similar to that of a standard microscope, although the results are far from standard, providing a depth of study that will greatly aid in the identification of a wide array of species. It also a bit bulkier than the average lab microscope, so users may want to plan on placing the device only on reinforced tables.

OXO-SPRAY. This substance, dispensed forcefully from the neck of what appears to be a sturdy red wine bottle, provides users with a layer of oxygen that adheres perfectly to the individual. This layer of oxygen is "self-perpetuating" and will remain in place for several hours. It provides healthy air to breathe for anyone venturing below water and is even robust enough to allow a user with such capabilities to ignite their body in a cocoon of flame within the protective layer (safety note: the layer of oxygen does not provide protection from such an act, so allowing oneself to be set ablaze should only be done if it has proven safe under other circumstances). Also note that the additional oxygen does somewhat permeate the skin and the application of the product involves the creation of an unsightly cloud of green mist.


As an appendix to this entry, a few items of Atlantean creation which may have influenced Dr. Richards should be noted:

EXPLO-GRENADE. The Atlantean weapon is a thick red cylinder divided into five adjoining segments. It can be launched from a hefty crossbow. Soldiers insists that one burst of this device will "stop anything that lives."

GLOBULES OF DARKNESS. Another weapon utilized by Alantean fighting forces. The globules are metal globes with a band around the center. Once deployed, the metal structure dissolves into a dark, inky substance that spreads rapidly. When released underwater, the fluid effectively blinds individuals for an indeterminate amount of time. It is unclear as to the effectiveness of this weapon on dry land.

IONIC RAY. This massive weapon, perhaps thirty feet in height, carries a force that can feel even the mightiest warriors. Besides the significant footprint that the weapon itself takes up (particularly with its adjoining globe), those considering installation need to plan for the extensive piping that feeds the device. Conveniently, it can run underground for distances up to two feet.

It is unclear if this weapon operates on any similar principles as the Subionic Analysis Structure-Scope.
