Today I was directly involved in the purchase of the following items:

--One 20 pound bag of dog food
--Two wristwatches
--Twelve bottle of long-sought-after Belgian beer
--Three cheeses, including a Basque cheese
--One charitably-inclined candy bar.
--A pound (or so) of coffee beans.

This adds up to a pretty good day.
