Congratulations to [info]firthofforth for truly completing a major project this evening. Hopefully, it's completed once and for all. We'll know in about a week. If I could, I'd reward her tireless (perhaps "tiring" would be a better word to use there) with as much money as this kid has:

In related news, I spent time tonight watching a terrible movie to be named later all in a probably futile effort to garner a few more in that silly diversion of ours which is fast approaching. It's a bad sign when you watch something that's ostensibly a laugh-a-minute comedy and you laugh exactly once in an hour-and-a-half. Our DVR currently houses acknowledged masterworks, intriguing acting showcases from Hollywood's caustic age, and recent films that we probably shouldn't have missed in the first place, and yet I frittered away my evening with a selection from the renowned "Will Ferrell in His Underpants" film series. Sigh.

This is completely off your subject, but have you ever read Amusing Ourselves To Death by Neil Postman? I'm reading it for a gen ed class (and actually enjoying that one, surprise surprise), and it struck me as right up your alley. Non-fiction, of course, but still entertaining.

And entertaining is exactly the adjective I should not have used...

The title sounded familiar enough that I looked it up. I think I may very well have read it as an assigned text back during my undergraduate adventures. Or pieces of it anyway. It's interesting that it remains relevant twenty years later.

i'm not sure i'm going to be dragging myself into the theater for that sequel we talked about...if it happens, it will be tomorrow night.

You'd certainly be forgiven for skipping it given what your days are like right now.
