My friend ccyl (who's an stellar theologian, by the way) once noted that she mostly peruses this space for the occasional dog picture. With that in mind, here's three images from yesterday's long roadtrip:

i think you may need to spend some time talking to people.

Judgin' by your stated mood, sounds like things haven't gone as smooth as planned. You know me, I got no good advice other than, "Think beer."

If that doesn't work, try visualizing your favorite "Takin' It In The Nutz" shot from either TeeVee or Movieland. Perhaps, one involving Walter Matthau and a Canoe.

Hopefully that helps.

Think about the credit card commercial (which one exactly escapes me now, which is a good example of why I don't take commercial notes)...where there's a little girl talking to a tooth fairy about accessing her "rewards." Have you seen it? The tooth fairy bears a remarkable similarity to one Mr. Michael P. Nelson.

Or just picture Nellie in a tutu...same effect. Tee hee hee. See, it gets ME everytime!

And if all that fails, forget *think* beer (what were you thinking Willy?) and simply DRINK beer.

Glad the trip went well...I am WAY impressed that you took on all three dogs for that long of a car trip...yikes!

Believe it or not Slomack, there are times when a person can't or at least should not drink. In times of stress, drinking can actually make things worse, or so I'm told. But thinking about drinking never hurt anyone.

we had a lot of stupid little setbacks and, at the time of this morning's post, I wasn't even certain I'd be able to get into the house today. Harnessing a little of that energy that can turn a penguin's head I was able to get things ironed out. We're in the house (and stealing our neighbor's wi-fi--hi neighbors!)

The canted angle on Shot #3 - as well as Nola's blissfully unaware demeanor - looks like a photo snapped mere moments before utter cataclysm.
Is the car about to go ass over teakettle?

I am hopeful for a commemorative painting, along the lines of the poker-playin' dogs; "Strapped In & Bound for Asheville."

thank you for using the phrase "ass over teakettle"...it made my night

I must say, the picture of Nola is my fav. b/c she's the only one who doesn't look at all affected by a long roadtrip with no room to run and hide. You can determine, however, that Radley is exhausted and attempting to restrain his anger and Maxie is saying "are we done with this yet?"

Well, at least the roadtrip's over. I am interested in hearing how well behaved the dogs were. I hope your neighbors don't find out about the wi-fi theivery.

Oh - could you email me your new address when you get a chance? I found something for you that may substitute as entertainment if you find yourself without internet and TV. And, no, it's not anything illegal.

I've emailed you the address. I'd appreciate mail. Right now I'm only getting the previous owners issues of medical journals and I guarantee I don't know what to do with those.

The dogs were very well-behaved on the trip and handled the very long drive and unaccustomed restraints really, really well. They were well behaved whenever we stopped for bathroom breaks and generally really agreeable. They were a little more frantic when we got to the hotel, but they handled that better than expected, too.

The picture of Nola is my favorite too. I think, weirdly enough, some of her personality actually comes through in it.

..or canines in this case. Sorry I was wrapped up in my own travels (OK City...sigh...), so I'm just now seeing your pics. Makes my trip to Jelly-town worth the trip! The nola one is the best I've seen of her :)

I have similar pics of road trip unhappiness involving a sheltie, a toddler and a baby from a roadtrip past. The sheltie is a study in resigned weariness and she might have actually been executing an eye-roll.
