Yesterday was about walking, walking, walking...punishing my feet for their American, gas-pedal-pushing lassitude. We started off from our rented flat (well, rented room in a flat) that is indeed right between Soho and Camden and trekked through or past Piccadilly Circus, St. James Park, Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace, Notting Hill and the Natural History Museum before ending up at the theatre depicted above. We also allowed for some digressions to purchase
music,
books and, um,
other stuff.
At the Royal Court, we saw a fantastic production of Chekhov's
The Seagull featuring
Kristin Scott Thomas,
Chiwetel Ejiofor and
Mackenzie Crook. We finished the night by retiring to the basement pub at the theater for a couple of pints and watched as every cast member came down to the exact same space to enjoy their after-work libations. While we're not exactly the types to go and insinuate ourselves into the conversation of celebrities just because we've just seen them on stage (although I will gladly get
Lyle Lovett's attention when he's in a passing cab), it was pretty cool to be hanging out in close proximity to these performers right after their sterling accomplishment on the boards.
And when Kristin Scott Thomas retrieved her cute little dog so she could depart for the evening, I did think I would have had the opportunity to meet her if only I had
my cute little dog handy.

Does your next evening at the theatre involve a kit-less Harry Potter?
